Protection of pupil rights amendment (PPRA)
PPRA governs the administration to students of a survey, analysis, or evaluation that concerns one or more of the following eight protected areas: (1) Political affiliations or beliefs of the students or parents; (2) Mental or psychological problems of the student or the student's family; (3) Sex behavior or attitudes; (4) Illegal, anti-social, self-incriminating, or demeaning behavior; (5) Critical appraisals of other individuals with whom respondents have close family relationships; (6) Legally recognized privileged or analogous relationship, such as those of lawyers, physicians, and ministers; (7) Religious practices, affiliations, or beliefs of the student or parents; or (8) Income (other than that required by law to determine eligibility for participation in a program or for receiving financial assistance under such program).

vocational education
The school district cooperates with the Western Suffolk BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education Services). Under the program, juniors and seniors may attend the senior high school for half of each day and the vocational school for the remainder of the time.

Working papers
The school district cooperates with the New York State Labor Department in issuance of working papers required by law for students under the age of 18 who seek employment. Students may obtain working papers by contacting the Guidance Office in the high school.
To secure working papers, a student must:
- Obtain and fill out an application.
- Have a Certificate of Physical Fitness form signed by a school doctor or family physician.
- Submit proof of age. This can be done in the form of a birth or baptismal certificate, hospital record or passport.
